West Coast Wilderness Railway

Traveling between the town of Queenstown and Regatta Point Station in Strahan, the West Coast Wilderness Railway is one of Tasmania’s most captivating journeys. It traverses magnificent old growth rainforest in original Dubs and Co. Abt steam locomotives, that were designed to tackle the rugged, mountainous terrain. The beautifully refurbished carriages operate along the old Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company route, creating an experience that combines local industrial history with the region’s pristine wilderness, in a story of “man against nature” that is distinctively Tasmanian.
