About eGuide

  • eGuide is a Tasmanian-owned tour and transport company based in Devonport, and provides reliable, eco-conscious visitor experiences across the state. We specialise in wilderness access, cruise ship excursions, private charters, and small-group touring.

     

    Our services include Overland Track and Walls of Jerusalem transfers, Cradle Mountain hotel transfers and day tours, and Tasmania-wide point-to-point transfers. We also offer Burnie and Hobart shore excursions (including the Burnie Attractions Bus, Bonorong Shuttle and Hobart Attractions Bus), and a range of tours from Devonport, such as the Tasting Trail and multi-day North West itineraries.

  • Yes, eGuide is a fully accredited and fully insured Tasmanian tourism operator, audited regularly by the relevant regulatory agencies. We hold all required accreditations for passenger transport and commercial touring, including Public Passenger Vehicle accreditation and Quality Tourism Accreditation.

     

    Our vehicles meet strict safety and maintenance standards and undergo regular inspections. We carry comprehensive public liability, vehicle and worker protection insurance, with our compliance and safety systems reviewed annually. This ensures every traveller is in safe, professional hands.

  • Hyundai Starias, Ford Transit minibuses, SUVs and our new Toyota Coaster. All vehicles are air-conditioned, clean, comfortable and maintained to the highest safety standards, with regular servicing and inspections.

     For larger groups and cruise ship days, we also charter modern coaches through trusted partners, ensuring we can scale safely and reliably for any tour or transfer.

  • TThe eGuide team includes 6 full-time equivalent staff and a seasonal pool of drivers and guides. The business is led by David Hearle, a trained botanist and educator, and Marie Bean, a full-time driver-guide with a background in fitness and hospitality. They are joined by Ian Etchell, a veteran guide, and Koji Yasui, who leads our Japanese-language tours.

Booking & Payment

  • All of eGuide’s transfers and tours can be booked directly via our website, by email or by phone. For most of our products, there is no payment required at the time of booking. Please check the booking conditions.

  • No, for most services provided by eGuide. A few of our products require prepayment, but this will be clearly stated at the time of booking.

    We accept cash, VISA, Mastercard and online card payments through our secure booking system. If you would prefer to pay in cash, please notify us at the time of booking.

  • Yes, for some of our products, including Overland Track transfers, we offer a small discount for cash payments. Please notify us at the time of booking if you would like to pay in cash.

  • Yes, we are flexible with changes to dates, times or pick-up points (subject to availability) and these do not incur any change fees. Please notify us as soon as possible if you need to make changes to your eGuide booking.

  • Yes, eGuide offers discounted rates to groups of five or more people. Please contact us directly for a quote if you are travelling in a group.

  • We understand that the unexpected happens and offer hassle-free refunds for cancellations. If your plans change, please let us know and we will refund your eGuide booking immediately.

     For cruise ship passengers, we offer 100% refunds if the cruise ship doesn’t dock.

  • All eGuide shore excursions are timed to meet the arrival of cruise ships, even if the schedule is altered. We adjust our pickup times accordingly and guarantee an on-time return for cruise ship departures. eGuide never charges extra for cruise ship timing changes that are beyond your control.

Pick-Up & Drop-Off

    eGuide offers door-to-door pickups from hotels, airports and most locations throughout northern and southern Tasmania. We can also pick guests up directly from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal, the Visitor Centre at Cradle Mountain or Lake St Clair. If your location is not listed here, please get in touch with our team directly.

    We suggest that all eGuide guests are ready 5–10 minutes before their scheduled pickup time. Usually, our drivers will arrive slightly early and will always wait if you are running a few minutes late. If you are going to be more than 10 minutes late, please get in touch via phone to notify us.

  • After making an eGuide booking, you will receive a confirmation email that includes your driver’s name, phone number and vehicle description. This ensures easy identification at pickup. At cruise ship terminals and ports, look for our eGuide sign or branded desk.

  • Yes, most eGuide transfers include hotel pickup at no additional cost. Please notify us of your accommodation at the time of booking and keep us informed if there are any hotel changes prior to pickup.

  • If you are delayed or held up and cannot be at the designated meeting point on time, please let us know via phone as soon as possible. We will always do our best to adjust pickup times to accommodate schedule changes.

  • Yes, we can drop guests at alternative locations, provided it is within a reasonable distance and fits into the schedule. Please notify us or your driver as early as possible if you would like to be dropped somewhere different than originally booked.

  • Due to space restrictions, we recommend that guests keep their luggage to one large pack and one daypack per person. Extra items can usually be accommodated, but it is best to let us know ahead of time.

  • Yes, free luggage storage is available for all return shuttle guests who book eGuide’s Overland Track transfers. Please notify us at the time of booking or prior to pickup if you would like to utilise our luggage storage service.

  • Yes, eGuide provides free gas canisters for guests booking our Cradle Mountain/Overland Track trekking transfers. There is no need to pre-book - simply ask your driver.

  • Absolutely! All of our Tasmanian trekking transfer vehicles are designed to accommodate hiking equipment. If you or anyone in your trekking party has an exceptionally large pack, please notify us in advance so we can guarantee space.

  • If an airline loses your luggage and you aren’t able to travel on your selected dates, we will do our best to reschedule your booking. If you need to cancel your Tasmanian travel plans due to lost luggage, we can provide a formal letter for travel insurance claims.

Overland Track Shuttle

  • All eGuide Overland Track shuttles depart on demand, at times that suit our guests. We do not have designated departure times - they can be arranged to accommodate your travel plans and trekking pace.

  • Yes, we regularly meet foot passengers arriving on the Spirit of Tasmania in Devonport. eGuide offers early departures for Overland Track walkers wanting transport directly from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal to the Visitor Centre in Cradle Mountain National Park.

  • A Parks Pass is required for entering Tasmania’s national parks but is NOT required for transfers to the start of trails. Parks Passes can be purchased online if you are trekking in Walls of Jerusalem National Park or they can be purchased in-person at the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre if you are hiking the Overland Track.

    Severe weather can and does affect travel and trekking plans in Tasmania. If this is the case, we will work with you to adjust your transfer booking at no extra cost.

  • Yes, we can adjust pickup times to meet delayed walkers, provided it fits within our existing transfer schedule. Please notify your driver by phone as early as possible if you will be arriving late to your meeting point.

Walls of Jerusalem Transport

  • eGuide’s Walls of Jerusalem National Park transfers can be arranged from Launceston, Devonport, Deloraine, Mole Creek and the surrounding areas. Custom pick-ups are also available - please get in touch for more information.

  • eGuide’s Walls of Jerusalem National Park transfers drop trekkers at the main Lake Ada Road trailhead, used for accessing the Wild Dog Creek area.

  • Morning departures are standard for our Walls of Jerusalem transfers, allowing trekkers enough time to reach their first campsite. Departure times vary by season and can be customised to suit the needs of you and your group.

  • Yes, both one-way and return transfer options are available to Walls of Jerusalem National Park. Typically, our return pick-ups are in the early afternoon, but this can be customised to meet your needs.

Cradle Mountain Transfers

  • The transfer time to Cradle Mountain depends on your departure point. Below is a rough guide from major Tasmanian cities:

     Devonport → Cradle Mountain: ~1 hour

    Launceston → Cradle Mountain: ~2 hours

    Hobart → Cradle Mountain: ~4.5 hours

  • Normally we drop guests at the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre where you can purchase or validate your Parks Pass. Here, you’ll also find the ranger station, park information, walker registration and up-to-date weather reports. Shuttle buses depart from the Visitor Centre to Ronny Creek and Dove Lake, the starting point of several day hikes.

     In special situations (mobility needs or tight cruise schedules), park entry may be requested.

  • Yes, one-way and return Cradle Mountain transfer options are available with eGuide. Flexible pickups are available from Hobart, Launceston, Devonport, Deloraine, Sheffield and beyond. Aside from private Cradle Mountain transfers, shared transport is also available.

  • All visitors must use the Cradle Mountain shuttle bus to travel beyond the Visitor Centre. Shuttle bus tickets are included with the Cradle Mountain Icon Parks Pass or Overland Track Pass. For everyone else (aged 18 years and over), a $15 fee applies and allows you to use the Cradle Mountain shuttle buses for 72 hours. Stops include the Interpretation Centre and Ranger Station, Snake Hill, Ronny Creek and Dove Lake.

  • Yes, we can accommodate guests with mobility issues. Please let us know at the time of booking so we can make any necessary arrangements.

Hop West Tasmania

  • Hop West is our flexible hop-on, hop-off style touring route through Tasmania’s North West and is a great way to explore the region without a car. It connects attractions, nature areas and major towns, including Devonport, Penguin, Ulverstone and Sheffield. Guests select their route and how long they want to stay at each destination, then we take care of the transport in between.

    Simply select your preferred route and how many nights you want to stay at each destination, then let us organise the transport to get you there. Mosts guests start and end their journey in Launceston, although other departure points are possible. Guests book their own accommodation, giving you the flexibility to customise a trip that suits your travel style. .

  • No. Once you select your stops, we manage the itinerary as a single booking and organise each transport sector.

  • Our Hop West Tour includes comfortable transport, a friendly guide and local storytelling during the trip
