By far, the main operator for those using their car, Eguide, operates several choices. Park at Lake St Clair have a night in Sheffield, Devonport or Deloraine and next morning a transfer to Cradle Mountain.
Park in Sheffield or Deloraine, and we transfer you to Cradle Mountain in the morning and bring you back to your car.
And for some, the valet service works well where you park in Sheffield, and we drop you at Cradle Mountain in the morning and move your car whilst you are on the Overland Track.

Devonport is the closest and therefore the lowest cost overland track transfer. Arrival point for Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Melbourne, and flights from Melbourne. Terminus for the Redline Express coach service that goes to Hobart and Launceston, if you combine with our transfer a low cost way to reach Cradle Mountain.Launceston

A few ideas that you might consider.
Consider an arrival into Devonport (airport or ferry)
Lower the cost of your transfer consider using public transport to Deloraine, Sheffield or to Devonport and then transfer to Cradle Mountain.
Accommodation is not cheap at Cradle Mountain save money stay in Deloraine or Sheffield the night before the overland track.
Let us meet you at your arrival airport and so save taxi fares to the city at a time to suit you
If transferring from Hobart consider using the Redline Coast that runs three times a day to Launceston or Deloraine and we meet you there.

Each shuttle is shared to create small groups wanting to travel to Cradle Mountain at the same time and return from Lake St Clair.A shuttle might be just 2 persons or at times 7 persons.
Overland Track Tasmania
The Overland Track is one of Australia’s most iconic wilderness hikes—a 65-kilometre trail that winds its way through the heart of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, from Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair. Over 6 days (or more if you include side trips), walkers experience a rich diversity of landscapes—towering mountains, ancient rainforests, alpine moorlands, and glacial valleys, all teeming with unique Tasmanian flora and fauna.
This is more than just a bushwalk—it’s a journey into a truly remote and pristine environment, where each day brings new vistas, challenges, and a sense of discovery. Highlights include the dramatic peaks of Cradle Mountain and Mount Ossa (Tasmania’s highest summit), cascading waterfalls like D’Alton and Ferguson Falls, and serene forest paths that seem untouched by time.
Permits and Booking:
To walk the Overland Track during the peak season (1 October to 31 May), you must book in advance through Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service. Numbers are capped to protect the environment and ensure a high-quality experience. You’ll also need a valid Parks Pass and an Overland Track permit, which includes access to the track, huts, and basic infrastructure.
Getting There and Back:
The track begins at Ronny Creek in Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park and ends at Lake St Clair. Most walkers either drive or take a transfer to the start, then arrange transport back from the finish. Because the walk is one-way, logistics require a bit of planning—but there are excellent services available to help with this.
Ferry Across Lake St Clair:
At the southern end, you can either walk the final 17.5 km along the lake edge or take a scenic ferry across Lake St Clair to Cynthia Bay. The Ida Clair ferry operates three times daily during the main season and must be pre-booked. It’s a relaxing and rewarding way to end your trek, offering stunning views across Tasmania’s deepest lake.
