Cradle Mountain with Tassie Devils

Discover Cradle Mountain: Encounter Tasmania's Wildlife on a Small-Group Adventure

The Cradle Mountain Shore Excursion commences promptly at 10:00 AM, but if everyone is ready sooner, we'll depart earlier to give us more time.. Tailored specifically for cruise passengers eager to explore Cradle Mountain and encounter a Tasmanian Devil, we maintain a small group size, accommodating a maximum of 20 guests, often even fewer.

The journey to Cradle Mountain takes approximately 90 minutes, leading us to a UNESCO World Heritage-listed wilderness area celebrated for its unspoiled lakes, ancient rainforests, and rugged peaks. Our primary destination is the stunning Dove Lake, nestled at the base of Cradle Mountain.

From Dove Lake, we embark on a picturesque stroll to the iconic Boatshed, a charming wooden structure nestled along the lake's edge. As we meander along the well-marked paths, immerse yourself in the natural splendor of the surroundings. The Boatshed offers an idyllic backdrop for capturing memorable photographs and relishing a moment of serenity amid the wilderness.

Following our leisurely walk, we proceed to the Devils at Cradle sanctuary. Here, you'll have the opportunity to encounter Tasmania's most iconic yet endangered species, the Tasmanian Devil, up close. Gain insight into these fascinating creatures, their conservation endeavors, and observe their playful antics firsthand. It's a rare chance to connect with Australia's unique wildlife in their native habitat.

If time permits we will visit the Cradle Mountain Interpretation Centre and for those who want can take the short Rainforest Circuit walk and view the waterfall and rain forest. And as a final stop the Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery and attached souvenier shop.

We then make our way back to Burnie, aiming to return by approximately 3:30 PM. Please be aware that departure times may be adjusted if your cruise ship sets sail earlier.

This tour is suitable for individuals capable of completing a short walk and willing to spend nearly three hours on the bus navigating winding roads. We kindly request prompt arrival, as we may depart earlier and allocate additional time at Cradle Mountain if everyone is ahead of schedule. Our meeting point is conveniently accessible upon disembarking from the shuttle bus that transports you to Burnie.

Entrance fees for both Cradle Mountain Park and the Devils at Cradle are included in the tour.
